When a teen struggles with a mental health disorder, it can affect the entire family. Parents may experience considerable worry and stress while also bearing some of the pain their adolescent is experiencing. Our objective is to help teenagers recover and develop the skills to manage their condition effectively so they can lead healthy, happy lives. In turn, families can live a more peaceful coexistence and enjoy a better relationship with their son or daughter.
The Turning Winds Family (team) is passionate about their mission, saving lives and creating a sustainable path forward for each teen. As cliché as it may sound, we really love what we do, and we feel blessed to do this work in one of the most beautiful settings that exist.
Turning Winds is situated in a peaceful clearing hewn from Montana’s deep and pristine northern woodlands that sits near the banks of the South Fork Yaak River. The setting alone sets the tone for our unique therapeutic approach to treatment. Together with such a serene environment, we provide our mental health services to adolescents based on a holistic and relational approach to care.
Before admission into our program, applicants undergo a comprehensive mental health review by our specially selected team of mental health care professionals. During this process, we assess the emotional, behavioral, social, medical, physical, and academic needs of your adolescent to ensure that your child is a good fit for our services and team.
At Turning Winds, we are committed to providing our clients the mental health services, support, and guidance they need to develop the insight, skills, and confidence to manage their conditions. Our team customizes treatment to each individual’s needs through a range of programs and treatment modalities best suited for each teen and their diagnosis profile.
Our proficient staff uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, among other proven therapies to help teens reach recovery. Because mental health is strongly intertwined with spiritual and physical health, our coordinated program goes beyond just clinical treatments. We provide the adolescents in our care a combination of experiential therapy, milieu therapy, psychoeducation, and physical fitness. Our program addresses balance and wholeness to ensure our teens enjoy the best all-around health. This helps to ensure their mental health treatment has the highest chance of success.
Often, helping teens struggling with mental health disorders requires teaching them how to differentiate between the important and the immaterial aspects of life. This is an integral part of our program. Through this process, young people can redefine their path of personal success.
There is no other program like Turning Winds that provides such a breadth and depth of services to support a dynamic and holistic healing process that really works. Our specialized milieu, longer treatment durations, team of professionals, academic support, and experiential programming deepen the effectiveness of care. This results in more positive outcomes and long-term change and stability for teens.
We help young people with a broad range of mental health disorders learn to manage their conditions and reach recovery. The following are some of the more common disorders our multidisciplinary team works with:
Individuals with a mental health disorder often have more than one disorder. Our proficient staff is accustomed to treating adolescents with a dual diagnosis. If your teen has more than one disorder, our team will create a plan that encompasses treatment for all of your adolescent’s diagnoses for optimal healing.
Our program is life-changing for youth with mental health conditions. Through our longer-term program, teens have sufficient time to experience repeated exposure to positive messaging and activities that help them develop hope and trust in their abilities and beliefs. This helps to ensure that they are more receptive and open to engaging in their treatment and recovery.
