Although Turning Winds may not be located in Vermont, we accept troubled adolescents from all over the country. When adolescents are taken out of their comfort zone and removed from negative influences and distractions, they are better able to focus on changing their behaviors and learning the skills necessary to make an incredible change.
As a Residential Treatment Center, we have combined a variety of proven therapeutic treatment methods to form the Five Pillars of Therapeutic Change.
This includes education on life and social skills, conflict resolution, effective communication, boundaries, health and self-development, and much more. While doing this, at-risk adolescents learn to take accountability for their actions, gain insight into their past behaviors and why they were unhealthy, learn decision-making skills that help them set and achieve goals, and realize the importance of recognizing their personal successes.
To ensure that no adolescent falls through the cracks, we have a 5:1 staff-to-student ratio. Teenage Boys and Girls are continually engaged in beneficial activities facilitated by our highly educated and skilled staff. Residential Treatment Centers for Mental Health
Turning Winds is a premier Residential Treatment Center supporting at-risk adolescents from Vermont who are struggling with a variety of troublesome issues, such as alcohol dependence, emotional concerns, and oppositional defiant disorder. Using our unique 5 Pillars of Change, we provide the exceptional therapy and treatment adolescents need to make a long lasting change.
When placed in an unfamiliar environment, adolescents are better able to concentrate on their treatment, which often leads to more profound and lasting changes.
At Turning Winds, we understand that some adolescents do give in to temptation and peer pressure, which can lead to problems with alcohol dependence issues. At-risk adolescents who engage in these behaviors will receive education that involves opiate abuse/addiction awareness, education on relapse prevention, social skills training, and more.
Teenage Boys and Girls dealing with bipolar disorder and/or other anxiety, whether along with or apart from opiate abuse/addiction, take part in a variety of proven therapeutic interventions, including individual and group therapy, to work through their problems.
Regular family therapy is also an important component of our therapeutic services, particularly for adolescents fighting depression. Teenage Boys and Girls learn to appreciate themselves as a person, explore their external and internal personal resources, as well as how to apply them to different areas of their lives where they may be troubled, and gain a better awareness of their identity.
At Turning Winds, we are devoted to help adolescents in crisis work through their current circumstances and transform into a young adult with integrity, a positive outlook on life, and the skills needed to maintain their change long term.

At Turning Winds, we place a strong focus on academics. In our nationally accredited schools, our certified teachers individualize educational plans to each adolescent’s specific needs.
