Therapeutic Boarding Schools Michigan
As a leading therapeutic boarding school for struggling teenagers from Michigan, Turning Winds offers valued help to adolescents coping with anxiety, child abuse, and/or rebelliousness related problems. We give the experience of a wilderness therapy program and residential therapeutic facility in one combined facility. Through our therapeutic boarding school, teenagers learn to overcome the mental health conditions, behavioral concerns, and mild to moderate drug abuse/addiction (including marijuana) that may be preventing them from living the normal well-adjusted life of a teenager.
Many teenagers in Michigan feel they cannot be "normal" simply because they have too many problems or have done too many bad things. The truth is, adolescents with mental health disorders can go on to live happy, productive lives if their mental health condition is properly identified, evaluated, and treated. Unfortunately, so many teenagers do not receive the treatment they need and they end up dealing with issues related to substance use (including marijuana), kleptomania, and/or clinical depression.
What is a Therapeutic Boarding School?
A therapeutic boarding school is a residential school facility that offers academics; combined with supervision and a specialized structure for adolescents from Michigan with behavioral issues, emotional problems, learning difficulties, and/or drug abuse/addiction (including marijuana) challenges. These schools work to recover the mind, body, and soul through the development of respect, gratitude, and forgiveness. Teenagers who attend our program learn the skills for transformation and overcoming the poor decisions they may have made in the past.
Turning Winds is both an Academic Institute and a therapeutic boarding school. We have helped over 1,000 families regain the sons and daughters they thought they had lost. The average stay at our institute is one year and the vast majority of our young students end up pursuing higher education when they graduate from our program.
Although Turning Winds may be located outside of Michigan, Turning Winds accepts enrollments from at-risk adolescents from all over the US. Also, it is beneficial to have struggling teenagers receive help away from the harmful influence of their unsupportive peer group.

therapeutic boarding schools for teens
At-risk teenagers in Michigan can benefit from a therapeutic boarding school for teens that offers both treatment for any present mental health concerns and a full academic program. Turning Winds is an accredited therapeutic boarding school for teens that is recognized by the Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC). Through a co-ed transformation program, struggling adolescents from Michigan learn how to change their help in life so they can develop a positive work ethic and pursue a career.
Though some parents are slightly concerned over sending their teenager to a co-ed therapeutic boarding school, they quickly learn there are many benefits for their struggling teenager in Michigan. Unfortunately, many teenagers lack the skills and understanding that is needed for the respect of the opposite sex. Excluding them from being around people of the opposite sex will only compound the issues they are facing and will make transitioning back into society difficult.
therapeutic boarding schools
Co-ed therapeutic boarding schools allow developing kids to gain the unique perspectives that both sexes give. They learn to not only respect others, but they also form strong social bonds that help them through their transformation treatment so they can be successful in overcoming the problems related to anxiety, kleptomania, and/or drug abuse/addiction (including marijuana); that has held them back in the past.
In our therapeutic boarding school, the students are engaged in activity at all times. Our program offers a 5:1 ratio of staff to adolescents, so no child ever falls through the cracks or is ignored. With this high ratio of staff to young students, we can assure parents their child will be monitored so that no issues arise that would cause them to become distracted from their ultimate goal of pursuing their education and receiving treatment for any mental health conditions they suffer from.
Turning Winds offers a leading co-ed education experience that is not only accredited by the NWAC, but also by the National Independent Private Schools Association. (NIPSA) We take great pride in providing our residents with the skills they need for overcoming their life obstacles and propelling them towards success.

Often, teenagers in Michigan are failing in traditional schools because their underlying mental and emotional needs are not being met. Unfortunately, many adolescents suffer from undiagnosed learning disabilities and clinical depression. We work to identify these issues so the right method of instruction can be put in place. We understand that every child learns differently and we are successful in identifying each teenager’s learning strengths so they can see success no matter what level they may be working on.
Not only does Turning Winds give a stellar educational opportunity, we also offer a wilderness program that offers struggling teenagers in Michigan limitless outdoor activities that teach them respect, gratitude, humility, and responsibility. These are attributes many adolescents today simply do not possess. Once teenagers graduate from our program they are ready to face life with new help and determination.
Our goal for adolescents in Michigan is to strengthen family bonds so forgiveness and resolution can be found. Bringing families back together is one of the greatest joys we are privileged to experience when teenagers progress through our program. Through hiking, backpacking, swimming, fishing, and camping, adolescents from Michigan enjoy their therapeutic experience while gaining valuable skills they will need for transitioning into young adulthood.
