Recent research has shown that even as young as elementary school, children benefit from a co-ed learning environment – and these benefits are magnified when it comes to teens. In fact, private or independent facilities that provide a co-ed program not only achieve better academic results, but their social, critical thinking, and communication skills as bolstered as well. Additionally, adolescent boys and girls of both sexes can learn from each other socially, and the diversity experienced not only better reflects society, but it helps those in recovery to avoid developing biases toward gender stereotyping.

Adolescence is a difficult time, and ensuring our teen students are strong and well-prepared to assimilate successfully into the real world is part of our goal. We at Turning Winds know that a co-ed group home will not only help fortify the foundation of a adolescent’s life in sobriety, but it will also build their character and direct them with learning the skills they will need for a successful future.
